8 Million Cuisinart Food Processors Recalled Due to Faulty Blade

In this post I am going to explain the Cuisinart Food Processor recall. I am going to explain how to check your machine and model number and finally what you can do to get a replacement blade for your Cuisinart. There is absolutely no charge for your replacement blade.

I first heard about this story through national news and a press release put out by Conair, makers of the Cuisinart Food Processor. The company said 8 million Cuisinart Food Processors were affected.
Here’s what Cuisinart said…

Cuisinart is instituting this voluntary recall because it has received several consumer reports of cracks found in riveted blades from use of the food processor over time, which could on rare occasion cause a portion of the blade to detach.

If you have one of the affected Cuisinart Processors, you must immediately stop using it.
The problem is in the blade. Cracks can develop and pieces of metal can get into your food.

Blades that contain 4 rivets that secure the blade are affected.
You can see a picture of the blade here.

This can be an extremely dangerous situation. If the blade does not have rivets, you have no problem.
If you have one of the affected models, you need to stop using the Cuisinart immediately.
I have been using a Cuisinart for years with no problems. I use it all the time. It is one of the best time savers in my kitchen.
Here is a list of the affected models:

I love my Cuisinart. This food processor is a work horse. It has been part of all of my pizza making for years. It is one of my favorite pizza tools. Imagine my shock and surprise when I decided to check my own machine.
Here’s what happened. I took took out the blade and looked at it. At first glance it looked normal, Upon closer inspection, impermanently I found hairline cracks in all of the blades.

Imagine what would have happened if the blade broke and a piece of metal went into my food! I immediately, stopped using the Cuisinart. Turn over the Cuisinart and locate the model number. You will need to know the model number when you are requesting a replacement blade.

New blades are currently on backorder. I got an email from them (mine is also affected) stating that they are behind on getting replacement blades out due to the precision manufacturing process needed. They also said they were going to send an email when the new blade is shipped.
