What is the Best Pizza Sauce?

Horst writes:

"My name is Horst.  I live in Musgrave Harbour NL. II had to use a different flour so I used bread flour,I also pre baked my pizza for 8 minutes then added the toppings and back in the oven. It turned out wonderful.

I am a baker by trade retired now but still bake. I am looking for a classic tomato all around sauce for my pizzas. It would be nice if you could steer me in the right direction for that. What ever I bake i like being good at it. When people eat my baking I like them to come back and say "can I have another one like that?

Your help would be kindly appreciated. with regards........Horst

My Response:

Hi Horst. Thanks for writing.

Great question.

Honestly I do not use a sauce for my pizza. I use canned whole stewed tomatoes.
I smoosh them with a fork, add spices and garlic. I find that works much better than sauce.

If you insist on using sauce, I've got you covered.

Go to my Red Sauce Gravy page at Pizza Therapy.

I have also recorded a video that will take you step by step through the sauce process.
