Pepe's opened in 1925. They have been making fantastic pizza ever since.
Frank Pepe first started selling his pizza by the slice by walking around local markets in the New Haven area.

No one could have imagined that this Italian immigrant would become legendary.
Frank Pepe was a simple man, a good man who just wanted to provide for his family.
Frank Pepe did provide for his family and his legacy continues.

The Original
Frank  Pepe !

"Pepe's is the greatest....my family once traveled 2 hours from upstate NY to New Haven to wait in line for another 2 hours and eat Pepe's...

It's THAT GOOD...."

Pepe's sign from pizza therapy
The Famous Pepe's sign on Wooster Street!

We started off with a Clam Pizza as an appetizer. The pizza crust was fantastic and the clams danced their way into our mouths.

"The "WHOLE" process waiting in line and watching other people wait in line. Then the eating of your Pizza and again watching others especially first time little children - little one's and the Big one's - the parents!

"They do one thing only and have done it better than anyone else for three quarters of a century. No lasagna, no breadsticks, no salads. Tomato pies, with mootz (pronounced "moots"). I've had the supposed best pizza in New York, in Florence and in Boston, and nothing comes close to Frank Pepe's.

Espo and I had a Half Bacon, Half Pepperoni Pizza while Jon F. and Sandy shared a Half Onion, and Half Pepper Pizza.
Each pizza was truly unique and wonderful.

"Pepe's is the best hands down!!! I've eaten pizza in New York, Chicago, Italy, all the places that supposedly have "great" pizza. Well none of these places compare with New Haven, Connecticut. And in New Haven, nothing compares with Pepe's. Everything is perfect, thin crunchy crust, excellent sauce, just the right amount of cheese, everything in balance the way pizza should be."

"The crust is thin, thin and so crispy. And the tomato sauce is done with a minimum of spice. The cheese is fresh as are all the toppings." Mark Esposito, Pizza Expert
